THE EQUITY TEAMS UP WITH
ILLINOIS FFA AND THE CRAYON INITIATIVE

The Crayon Initiative is a project where unwanted crayons are collected, recycled, and turned into new crayons that will be donated to children’s hospitals around the nation. The Illinois FFA’s goal is to collect over 2,000 pounds of used and unwanted crayons.

More than half-million pounds of crayons are discarded every year turning into a waxy sludge that clogs our landfills and never biodegrades. The Equity and FFA are treaming up to help the Crayon Initiative.

HOW CAN YOU HELP

Start by collecting used and unwanted crayons from your homes, classrooms, and schools. Work with your local elementary and junior high schools at the end of the school year to help collect the most crayons possible. Our goal as a state is to collect over 2,000 pounds of crayons, and this is only possible with the help of Illinois FFA Members. Once you have collected all the crayons that you possibly can, bring them to one of The Equity’s 17 locations and they will deliver them to the FFA to be re-purposed.
