Horace - Feed Mill Assistant Manager


The Feed Mill Assistant Manager supports the daily operation of the feed mill by overseeing production activities, maintaining quality and safety standards, supervising employees, and helping ensure efficient manufacturing, inventory, maintenance, and delivery processes. This role works closely with the Feed Production Manager to drive operational performance while promoting a safe, productive workplace.

Salary

$65,000-$85,000 annually 

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all established personnel and safety policies and procedures
  • Responsible for supervisory tasks in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws for all direct reports:
  • Assist with training employees; Planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Follow all SFSF & FSMA guidelines
  • Responsible for Quality Standards and GMP’s of all feed manufactured
  • Execute on established metrics and assigned action items
  • Responsible for assisting in the complete operations of feed production: scheduling, manufacturing, housekeeping, maintenance, inventory, and delivery.
  • Review reports of manufacturing performance efforts to ascertain costs and plan operating changes to the feed production manager.
  • Continue to seek on-going training and education opportunities as directed by supervisor.
  • Be able to communicate in a professional manner to the customers, employees and manager

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Leadership Characteristics

  • Background in mill production and agriculture preferred, or related manufacturing process
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with management and customers
  • Has a self-motivating personality as well as team-building skills
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • Must have or willing to obtain a class A CDL

Work Environment

The nature of the business may require extended hours. While performing the duties of the job, the employee occasionally works outside near moving mechanical equipment and may work in high, precarious places with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Noise level in work area is usually loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include lifting objects up to 50 pounds.

Travel

The employee may be required to travel to other locations, conferences, educational opportunities and other job-related activities.
