Effingham - Livestock Farmhand/Agricultural Specialist (Seasonal)
The livestock farmhand/agricultural specialist is responsible for assisting with hog sorting and market weights, feed inventory, and farm documentation. Additionally, in this position, you will preform animal care including vaccination and treatment, equipment operation with routine maintenance, and power washing. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining the facilities and barns.

Salary
$16 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and loads of hogs and manage market weights in accordance to company weight targets.
- Monitor feed inventory and order when necessary.
- Ensure farm paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Review performance reports and implement action plans to improve performance when warranted.
- Tasks
- Sort and load feeder pigs, market hogs
- Vaccinate and treat pigs ranging from wean pigs to market hogs
- Power washing
- Equipment Operation
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure all equipment is operated in a safe manner.
- Conduct routine maintenance of equipment.
- Ventilation Controls
- Monitor and ensure entire ventilation system is in good working order
- Regularly monitor the environment to achieve optimum comfort for the animals
- Facility Maintenance
- The facility must be maintained and well kept
- Communicate non-routine repairs to the Barn Owner
- Keep both interior and exterior of the unit clean and organized

- Possess the ability to plan and organize daily and weekly tasks.
- Have problem solving skills and willingness to use innovative and creative ideas.
Work Environment
The nature of the business requires extended hours as well as working some weekends and holidays. While performing the duties of the job, the employee often works inside swine confinement building and may work with exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level in work area is usually loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands include lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
Travel
The employee may be required to travel to other facilities in The Equity trade area.
